Coping with a chronic disease (obesity, diabetes, arterial hypertension, among others) requires psychological adjustment to the health condition, as well as several behavioural modifications and habits’ formation.

Nutritional habits, adherence to regular physical activity, adherence to medical drugs, regularly contacting health professionals and performing medical analysis or exams, are only examples of the challenging tasks that are involved in self-management of chronic diseases.

Efficient communication and understanding of the different therapeutic alternatives are also main skills that any chronic patient needs to acquire for coping efficiently with his or her medical condition.

In R&CS, we have health professionals dedicated to empower patients so that they become more active agents of their own chronic treatment. All health professionals – psychologists, nutritionists, physical activity experts, and medical doctors – have specific training for assuring that the treatment is really patient-centred.
